Frequently Asked Questions?

Q.  When will I receive my confirmation?  I mailed my registration form and check 5 days ago?

A.  Please allow 7 to 14 days for confirmation notices to be sent.  We are very pleased with the overwhelming responses for this years event and we're working hard to process the registrations and confirmations as quickly as possible.  If you've not heard from us after two weeks, then feel free to call us to follow up.

Q.  Why is a group registration more $$$ than an individual registration?

A.  The first year we sponsored this event we had general seating and it was on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Many people told us that they would pay extra for the convenience of not having to come early and rush around trying to save seats for all of their friends…and save themselves the stress of the “what if we don’t all get to be together” factor.  We did it that way for year #2 and the feedback was all positive.  Some of those who did not do it said that they would definitely be getting a group registration together for this year.  Now that I have been to a few crops I have found this to be pretty standard practice.  So to make a long story short, it is a fee for the convenience and the guarantee. And of course, that money goes directly to the charity!

Q.  I want to help but can't come to the Crop.

A.  Thanks so much for the offer!  An event of this size needs lots of "worker bees."  Here's how you can help:

  • Mail me a tax deductible donation.  Make your check payable to "The National M.S. Society" and mark it "donation only" on the memo line and mail to:  Laura Machonis, Crop for a Cause, 126 Amherst Drive, Bartlett, IL 60103.
  • We are accepting new and gently used donations for the "Bargain Area," so please clean out your scrap room and donate supplies you can spare.  You can drop off items to me, mail them, or I can arrange a pick-up.  This is a great way for you to make some room for new "treats" and get a tax write-off for your items at the same time!
  • Items for goodie bags, silent auction and door prizes are needed.  If you know anyone who would like to donate or if you would like to help solicit, please let me know.

  • We are also looking for sponsors to cover the cost of the food and table rental fees.  If you work for or know of a company or person interested in getting involved, please let me know as soon as possible.
  • Click on the volunteer opportunities link.  The wonderful people who helped last year have written out a wish list for helpers...lots of opportunities to be involved both in big and small ways!
  • Spread the word about the Crop--post it on message boards, tell everyone you know!
  • Join our team for the 2010 M.S. Walk...a fun day, a fun group, and, of course...more fun prizes!

Q.  Why do I want to attend this event?

A.  There is something to be said about doing something you love and doing it to benefit someone else.  One hundred percent (100%!) of your tax deductible donation goes straight to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  It's a win-win all around!

Q.  What this I hear about a "garage sale/bargain area"?

A.  We will have an area where you may purchase items straight out--instead of bidding on them like the silent auction.  It will consist of new and gently used items.  If you have any items you would like to donate for this area, please let us know so we can arrange to have them picked up (that way we can price items ahead of time).  You may also bring items to donate the night of the Crop and we will price them and put them out that evening as time permits.  We have donation forms for your tax records available.  If you drop off your items to me before the Crop, as many way of thanking you, I will place your name in a drawing for a special prize.

Q.  I missed the pre-registration deadline.  Can I still attend?

A.  If there is space available we would love to have you join us.  Tickets are $30 per person for registration received by 11-29-09; $35 for registrations received 11-30-09 through 1-5-10; $40 1-6-10 through
2-21-10; and $45 at the door if space is available.

Q.  Can I bring my children?  If so, do they need to purchase a ticket?

A.  What a great mother/daughter or mother/son creative night!  We would love to have them at the Crop.  We only ask that you please be respectful of those who are using this as a night away and make sure you keep your children sitting with you.

Last year some people had their children picked up when it got late.  They had the fun experience with their child...and time to themselves.

PLEASE NOTE:  No children are allowed in the Crop/work space unless the child has a paid ticket and is accompanied by an adult with a paid ticket.  Thanks!

Q.  How much does it cost?

A.  Pre-registration Donations -

     $30 Pre-Registration - November 1, 2009 - November 29, 2009

$195 Table Reservations (6 tickets + guarantee you will be sitting together)

     $35 Registration - November 30, 2009 through January 5, 2010

$225 Table Reservations (6 tickets + guarantee you will be sitting together)

     $40 Registration - January 6 - February 21, 2010

$255 Table Reservations (6 tickets + guarantee you will be sitting together)

$45 Donation Tickets at the Door - if space is available

Q.  Who do I make my check payable to?

A.  Payable to "The National M.S. Society".

Q.  What do I get for my money?

A.  We will provide a light supper, snacks, goodie bags and prizes.  Glenda Travelsted from "Stampin' Up!" has generously offered to bring her hundreds of stamps for our use and there will be some specialty tools and die cut machines available for use.  Oh yeah, you also get a nice tax write-off on everything you spend!

Q.  Are beverages included?

A.  There will be soft drinks and water bottles available for purchase.  Coffee will be available at no charge thanks to a generous donation by Starbucks in Schaumburg (Barrington & Schaumburg roads).

Q.  What is the pre-registration deadline?

A.  February 21, 2010.  Your envelope must be postmarked by February 21, 2010, to qualify for the pre-registration discount.  This is also the deadline for group reservations.

Q.  Can I add more people to my reservation?

A.  Yes, as long as there are still tickets available and the changes are made before the pre-registration cutoff date.  Please remember ALL GROUP reservations MUST be made in groups of six (6) and the price is a $195 donation per group through 11-29-09; $225 11-30-09 through
1-5-10; and $255 1-5-10 through 2-21-10.

Q.  I want to sit with my friends--how does that work?

A.  Seating is general and on a first-come/first-served basis -- you may write in friend requests on your Individual Registration Form though we cannot guarantee you will be seated with your friends.  Please know that there is a chance that you will be split up.  We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.  Seating is determined prior to the Crop and a seating chart will be used so there is no need to arrive early to save seats.

WE ARE AGAIN OFFERING THE OPTION OF GROUP REGISTRATIONS:

Do you have six (6) scrapbook friends who would enjoy this Crop?  Complete the Group Registration Form and be guaranteed you will all sit together.  The reservations must be made in groups of six (6).
The cost per group is a $195/$225/$255 donation and you must mail in all of your checks/registration forms together (or write one check and reimburse each other).

Q.  Help!  I need more space!!

A.  If you are one of those scrapbookers who just needs more space (O.K., don't point at me!) you have the option of purchasing two (2) (or 3 or 4) tickets and then you will get that much space to spread out (again, don't point at me!).  You will receive confirmation numbers for the amount of tickets you purchase, which means you will also have more chances to win free goodies!

Q.  Where is my ticket?  Will you mail it to me?

A.  You won't actually receive a "ticket"--you will receive an e-mail confirmation number shortly after we receive your check.  This is the number you will use to check in.  This also is your number for the silent auction and we will use it to distribute prizes that evening.  You must print out your ticket and bring it with you to the Crop.  This will also contain your confirmation number.

Q.  I didn't receive an e-mail confirmation with my registration number?

A.  If you have not heard from us within a week, please send an e-mail to info@cropforacause.com.
